A New Chapter: From King’s Church to Hope Church
This past Sunday, we shared some exciting news that marks a significant moment in the life of our church. After much prayer, conversation, and discernment, we are stepping into a new season with a new name—Hope Church. While our heart and mission remain unchanged, this rebrand reflects our deep desire to be a church that shares the hope of Jesus in fresh and compelling ways.
Why the Change?
For many years, King’s Church has been a place of worship, transformation, and mission in Portsmouth. We have seen lives changed, communities impacted, and faith renewed. However, as we continue to grow and engage with our city, we recognize the need for a name that better communicates who we are and what we stand for.
Hope Church captures the essence of our vision—to be a beacon of light in our city, bringing hope to those who need it most. In a world that often feels uncertain and broken, we want to point people to the unshakable hope found in Jesus Christ.
What Stays the Same?
Though our name is changing, our core conviction of wanting to share the love of Jesus with Somerstown and Portsmouth remains steadfast. We will continue to prioritise the presence of God, be transformed into the likeness of Jesus, and be empowered by the Holy Spirit for mission. The ministries you love—our Sunday services, Foodbank, Kids’ work, and our work in the community—will remain, with the same heart to serve and love well.
When Does This Happen?
The official transition to Hope Church will take place in May 2025. Over the coming weeks, you’ll start to see changes in our branding, signage, and communications as we prepare for this exciting launch. We’ll also be sharing more about how you can be part of this journey with us.
Join Us in Prayer
As we step into this new season, we invite you to pray with us. Pray that this transition will open doors for more people to encounter Jesus. Pray that Hope Church will be a place where lives are restored, faith is deepened, and the love of God is made known in even greater ways.
We’re so excited about what’s ahead and grateful to journey together into this next chapter. If you have any questions, thoughts, or simply want to celebrate with us, we’d love to hear from you!
With expectant hearts,
Josh Binstead, Lead Pastor
