What is Portsmouth Foodbank all about?
At Portsmouth foodbank we provide anyone who is struggling to afford food 3 days worth of nutritionally balanced food. Clients are able to come for 6 food parcels in a 6 month period.
We are open Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays 11am-1pm
To support our clients we have Debbie (Circle of Support worker). She is available for brief interventions or more longer term help if needed.
We have recently secured a citizens advice advisor, called Lucy, to be based in our sessions which is a wonderful service to offer our clients.
Last financial year we fed just under 10,000 people, this year we have fed 7000 so far.....
How can you stand with Foodbank?
We have an amazing group of volunteers (about 30 in total) but we need people to sit & listen. Alot of our clients have other issues which led them to the food crisis they are in, we would love to offer kind, caring and genuine people to hear their stories, pray with them (if appropriate) and connect with them.
If you think you could offer this please get in touch. You will be given basic signposting training to local services.
We also always appreciate monetary donations & tinned/dried food too, bring your food donations to the King’s Centre on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays before 2pm and click here to give a monitary donation.
Give our Facebook Page a follow to stay up to date @pompeyfoodbank
What is Circle of Support all about?
Circle of Support is about supporting people in the crisis they are in. Their crisis could be Debt, mental health issues, homelessness, addiction, emotional support and so on.
Supporting CoS clients would mean meeting them ‘where they're at’ - no judgement and a loving heart. Some issues that CoS clients bring can be challenging and messy however it is very very rewarding.
Knowing you have made a positive impact and a difference in someone’s life is so rewarding. Seeing someone get to a healthy place and knowing you have been part of their journey is one of the best feelings.
How can you stand with Circle of Support?
Coming alongside CoS clients could be on a Sunday morning showing them a friendly face engaging with them and sitting with them.
Joining our Foodbank sessions (Mon/ Wed/ Fri 11am-1pm) to provide signposting alongside Debbie.
Praying with and for CoS clients.
Meeting clients for a cuppa in the small hall at a time suitable for you both.
Including and doing life with them.
If you'd like to support CoS clients futher, chat to Debbie about joining her and being trained up to support.
